Indigenous Wisdom
The foundational concepts of the movement (to put Life-First, the Children’s Fire, the Circle of Law and the Council) have all emerged from wisdom teachings fostered by indigenous peoples of the Americas.
They are as relevant now, in our modern communities of the techno-dream as they ever have been, as they are structures based upon compassion, equality, democracy and a deep understanding of (and the ability to respond to) Life.
The Voice of the People
The CFM is a people’s movement, run by the people, for the people. It’s a response – both to the needs of the People and to the need for Life to continue.
The Need…
Increasingly, people are waking up to the fact that we live in a time where so often the needs of the many are outweighed by the short-term benefits of a few. And in order to maintain the inequality of this model we have become dependant on a system that is fragile, unstable and destroying the very environment that we are a part of.
Each day more and more of us are losing faith in the system and in the politicians who dance on it’s stage . Just who can we trust - to represent our children and their children’s children? There is an increasingly obvious need for a peaceful, and truly democratic way forward that will provide a more life-affirming legacy for our future generations. The Children’s Fire Movement seeks to support this transition.

The main objective of the movement is to create real, tangible changes in the way we go about our daily lives on this planet – changes that will ensure the continuation of life. This will only happen when individuals, organisations and community groups commit to truly realising this change – to putting words into action and “walking the talk”!

To put Life-First, in every thought word and action, is the founding concept of the movement.
Life-First is a commitment to our future generations and to the continuation of Life whereas profit-first is the old paradigm (of short-term gain) which has brought us to this time of great challenge – both socio-economically and environmentally.
